CPM 3V – a wear-resistant tool steel with high hardness. Manufactured by US Crucible Industries using the particle metallurgy / Crucible Particle Metallurgy(CPM) method. The CPM process creates a highly homogeneous, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and ductility compared to steels produced by conventional methods. Designed to provide maximum fracture and chipping resistance in high wear resistance steels. It offers impact resistance greater than A2, D2, Cru-Wear or CPM M4 , approaching the levels provided by S7 and other impact-resistant grades. CPM 3V is hardened to 61-63 HRC for applications where chronic cracking and chipping is found in other tool steels, but where the abrasive properties of high-alloy steel are required.
Blade- a profiled wharncliffe type blade, allowing fast and precise undercutting or separating operations. This type of geometry is great for working with tight surfaces, textiles, tapes or when making angled cuts. The tip with increased sharpness promotes pinpoint, controlled cuts. The material of the blade is CPM 3V powder steel, known for its very high resistance to cracking and chipping, as well as its exceptional durability of the working edge. This is the steel of choice for knives designed for extreme use – in situations where tool failure is not an option. The tumbled finish reduces the visibility of scratches and wear, while reducing light reflections, which is important in off-road conditions.
Handle – made of G10 composite, characterized by resistance to impact, extreme temperatures and moisture. The design has been contoured to ensure maximum hand contact with the surface of the knife, while reducing the effect of fatigue during prolonged work. Deep undercuts improve grip confidence, regardless of the angle of the blade. Additional holes in the grips serve as landmarks and reduce the weight of the entire design. The knife is built with full tang technology , which means that the blade steel runs through the entire length of the Handle, ensuring its mechanical continuity and highest possible rigidity. Massive mounting screws not only strengthen the structure, but also enhance Medford’s distinctive industrial aesthetic.
